Hey there,

thank you so much for the watches. I'm sorry I haven't been on deviantart much, so I haven't given my personal thanks to watches for the past year :s. I am in the middle of trying to sort my life out (career wise), so I have been pretty 'off the grid' for the past year.

I'll still contribute work every so often. Thank you again!

Congratulations amaterasu111 (and thanks for taking the time) for the screenshot grab!!
^_^ waiting on your request, and I'll try not to spend too long on it. Since :iconamaterasu111: is a fellow 3D artist, I'm willing to do a bit of 3D for her :D do check out her amazing environment art!

~~UPDATE 12/11/12- What's been going on!~~

So here's the thing, a couple of junior modellers were chosen to spend 2/3 more weeks at Tonto, and I was among the chosen, so I'm still busy! Haha. There was a nice wrap party, as for this studio- the work is finished and everything will be left in the hands of Pixomondo and Startz Entertainment. :) It's been a good experience, and hopefully I will have more opportunities to work with Tonto.

However...
I haven't been totally inactive, In January 7th 2013 I'll be starting up my first permanent job as a Junior Generalist Artist at Caperfly. It's all the way in Leamington Spa, and I'm a little sad moving away so far for this job. I'm really happy I finally got a permanent job, just it's a shame it couldn't be somehow closer to home. :) I hope my irl friends can stay in touch.

After these two or three weeks I'll be starting up a bit of freelancing, mostly for 3D environments- this will be pretty exciting. :D So if anyone knows of a place I could get some work, I'd appreciate the suggestions!

Hey guys,

The summer has been very relaxing. My graduation was great! But since then, I've been working hard on improving my portfolio: www.gemmasuen.com/portfolio.ht…

I've also been looking for jobs, but after a rather recent phone call, I've been avoiding applying to anything. I was told to NOT apply until my portfolio was at its best. So, I'm really sorry I've not been submitting anything 2D for a while. I mean, for some reason I have the urge to paint a naked woman and sketch a few cartoon skits- but I don't really have time, and I can't afford to put off my portfolio.

Note about MCM Expo:

I'm predicting I won't be able to go to this event. For the reason that no matter what happens I will either not have time or the funds ;(. If I don't get a job by then, then I don't have the money to create my cosplay, and if I do get a job, then I'll most likely be too busy, because I am already going to Eurogamer (it would be kind of bad for me to take so many days off at the beginning). Sorry guys ._....
I've thought about it for some time now, and the likelihood of me going has hit bottom. My focus is completely on my career at the moment, and if I slack off for even a week or two I'm afraid everything will go down the drain.

I'll try to do a kiriban over the next month.. maybe when I hit 12k (since that won't happen for a good while haha).

P.S.
Anyone have any portfolio tips for 3D artists?

As most people who know me know- I don't really go out very often anymore. I barely leave my computer as it is, with so much work to be done and limited funds, I found better ways to have fun and even socialise. But tonight I was looking forward to finally going out and hosting an awesome games night to raise funds for my uni's graduation show.
It didn't turn out that great. In fact I wish I could have gone back in time and done something different so it didn't have to end this way.

For the past few weeks I've been busy organising the end of year show, I had also decided to organise a fundraising games night and a classmate and I chose a place that had been used in previous years for fundraising. We had the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and a variety of games on each, there was supposed to be a competition held, raffles and just plain fun, but not even thirty people turned up. I was disappointed, mostly because the absences were from the very students involved in the degree show- it was basically for them. The people who turned up made an effort to help and even brought friends over.

So what ended the night with a big bang? Some idiot decided it was okay to enter our area (it was closed off and you had to pay for wristbands to get in) for free, and continued to ignore me, pointing, laughing and no doubt being a racist piece of brainless turd.
It was not so bad when I saw him finally leave the area, he apparently 'knew' one of the randoms that had gotten in (I made his friend pay for him eventually), but then he had the nerve to bring back two orange faced scarecrows and show off his amazing 'ignorance' in front of them.
So I pushed him. Hard.
One of the horrificly tall umpa lumpas went crazy on me whilst I had an awesomly fabulous Princess Peach costume on, and destroyed it by pulling my wig off. Just imagine my pissed off face when she did that. I told them to get out- though I'm sure it was in a horribly rude fashion, since I can't even remember exactly what I said. Then they got banned from the club.

I practically ripped off the rest of my costume, and went to the bathroom, utterly and sourly disappointed with how I handled things. So tonight I express my sincere disgust- at mainly myself.

Three damn years without ever encountering a chav, and I loose my mind when I do. I must be spoiled, I'm in Britain for goodness sake.

Got back today to check my deviantART, and I got around 270+ notifications- I got a DD! I'm really so happy, thank you all for your nice comments and faving and adding me to your watch, it's my first time. What would have otherwise been a very boring and dull day for me has turned out great :). I hope I can make another piece that's worthy for a DD again.

Another great thing is that I've purchased Photoshop CS6 with the Production Premium pack Student/Teacher edition. I finally decided I'd get it, simply because I've always used Photoshop, and this would be my last chance to get it at a discounted price. Apparently they've changed how the student version works and allows it for commercial use- it's not like anyone would find out, but still a nice nice touch. I also heard a rumour they will be changing the way licensing works on a pay monthly/rent basis. It's potentially seen a cheaper option, but I guess I prefer to just own it than worry about monthly payments.

Anyhow that's enough of my ramblings, just thought this would be useful information for any students who want to consider buying Photoshop before they graduate.
